This is a lab activity that kept students engaged and required simple lab techniques. Students reviewed types of reactions and based on chemical reaction would identify the type of reaction. This reaction is also useful for teaching solubility reactions, with the use of the hydroxides and lead compounds.

Reaction 1: Silver Nitrate and Copper

AgNO3 + Cu –> Cu(NO3)2 + Ag

Reaction 2: Potassium Iodide and Lead Nitrate

KI + Pb(NO3)2 –> PbI2 + KNO3

Reaction 3: Copper (II) Sulfate and Sodium Hydroxide:

CuSO4 +NaOH –> Cu(OH)2 + Na(SO4)2

Reaction 4: Aluminum and Copper (II) Chloride

Al + CuCl2 –> Cu + AlCl3

Reaction 5: Cobalt (II) Chloride and Sodium Hydroxide

CuCl2 + NaOH –> NaCl + Cu(OH)2
